Children’s day in India falls on November 14th, on the Birthday of India’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. Lovingly called ‘Chacha Nehru‘ which means Uncle Nehru by the kids, Jawaharlal Nehru gave emphasis to the significance of giving love and affection to children, who are the bright future of India. The main purpose of this day is to encourage the welfare of children all over the country.
He thought children are the future of a Nation and they need utmost care. They win over our hearts with their angelic eyes and innocent smiles. Nehru wished is the birthday to be celebrated as Children’s Day. Since his death in 1963, his birthday is being celebrated as children’s Day in India. Universal Children’s Day takes place annually on 20 November. First proclaimed by the United Kingdom in 1954, it was established to encourage all countries to institute a day, firstly to promote mutual exchange and understanding among children, and secondly to initiate action to benefit and promote the welfare of the world’s children.
