Brought into the world on July 4, 1898, in Sialkot (Punjab), Shri Gulzarilal Nanda was taught at Lahore, Agra and Allahabad. He functioned as an exploration researcher on work issues at the College of Allahabad (1920-1921) and became Teacher of Financial matters at the Public School (Bombay) in 1921. He joined the Non-Collaboration Development that very year. He was appointed Secretary of the Ahmedabad Textile Labour Association in 1922, and he continued working there until 1946. He was detained for Satyagraha in 1932, and again from 1942 to 44.
Shri Nanda served as the Parliamentary Secretary (Labor and Excise) for the Government of Bombay from 1937 to 1939 after being elected to the Bombay Legislative Assembly in 1937. He then successfully piloted the Labour Disputes Bill through the State Assembly while serving as Labour Minister for the Bombay Government from 1946 to 1950. He filled in as Legal administrator, Kasturba Remembrance Trust; Secretary, Hindustan Mazdoor Sevak Sangh; furthermore, Director, Bombay Lodging Board. Additionally, he participated in the National Planning Committee. He helped organize the Indian National Trade Union Congress and eventually served as its president.
In 1947, he went to Geneva as an Administration representative to the Worldwide Work Gathering. He was a member of the Conference-appointed “Freedom of Association Committee” and traveled to Sweden, France, Switzerland, Belgium, and England to investigate labor and housing conditions there.
In Walk 1950, he joined the Arranging Commission as its Bad habit Executive. He was given the position of Planning Minister in the Union Government in September of the following year. Likewise, he was additionally given charge of the arrangement of Water system and Power. He was chosen for the Place of Individuals from Bombay in the overall appointment of 1952 and was re-named Priest for Arranging Water system and Power. He drove the Indian Assignment to the Arrangement Consultative Council held at Singapore in 1955, and the Global Work Gathering held at Geneva in 1959.
Shri Nanda was chosen for the Lok Sabha in the 1957 general races, and was designated Association Clergyman for Work and Business and Arranging and, later, as Representative Executive of the Arranging Commission. He visited the Government Republic of Germany Yugoslavia and Austria in 1959.
In the general elections of 1962, he was re-elected to the Lok Sabha from the Gujarati constituency of Sabarkantha. He started the Congress Discussion for Communist Activity in 1962. He was Association Pastor for Work and Work in 1962 and 1963 and Priest for Home Undertakings from 1963 to 1966.
Following the passing of Pt. Nehru, he was a confirmed as State leader of India on May 27, 1964. Again on January 11, 1966, he was confirmed as Top state leader following the demise of Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri at Tashkent.
